OK, so I got Larry Johnson, Steve Smith, and pick #3 of round 3. I passed on a second running back in round 2 because I saw a lot more value in the WR pick. After my second round pick, no running backs are drafted to finish the round.
Round 3
Pick # | Player | Rank | Position | My Thoughts |
21 | Terrell Owens | 24 | WR | 5th WR taken |
22 | Reggie Wayne | 42 | WR | really love this draft |
23 | Maurice Jones-Drew | 11 | RB | plan worked to perfection |
24 | Willis McGahee | 28 | RB | |
25 | Marc Bulger | 39 | QB | 3rd QB |
26 | Tom Brady | 46 | QB | 4th QB |
27 | Roy Williams | 32 | WR | 7th WR taken |
28 | Drew Brees | 35 | QB | 5th QB |
29 | Larry Fitzgerald | 40 | WR | 8th WR |
30 | Jon Kitna | 53 | QB | 6th QB, Jon Kitna 30th pick. LOL |
So my plan worked this time, I got both my guys around the horn. A bunch more QB's taken super early. Tons of RB value still out there, never seen a draft like this. Looking back, I could have gotten Gates here in the third, and still got 2 more good backs, but I figured there was no way any of the backs would be left 15 picks from now. So I went safe and grabbed the best back at the time. One of many reasons I did not draft Willis McGahee was that his bye week was the same as Larry Johnson. I am pretty sure if T.O. is here I take him.
I am also noting that I cannot believe that Clinton Portis has not been taken yet, and also noting that Donovan McNabb is the only really good QB left. If he is there for me in the 4th I am going to take him, otherwise I need another good WR if I have to start 3.
