Round 4
Pick # Player Rank Position My Thoughts
31 | Marques Colston | 57 | WR | reach |
32 | Antonio Gates | 18 | TE | good value here for Gates |
33 | Anquan Boldin | 60 | WR | reach |
34 | T.J. Houshmandzadeh | 49 | WR | what? |
35 | Andre Johnson | 75 | WR | love this draft |
36 | Deion Branch | 107 | WR | really really love this draft |
37 | Donald Driver | 52 | WR | thank god for miracles |
38 | Javon Walker | 37 | WR | see notes below |
39 | Donovan McNabb | 44 | QB | damn it |
40 | Plaxico Burress | 47 | WR | 16th WR drafted |
McNabb is here for me, which I had said I would draft him if he was. The worst thing starts happening in this round in that it became a WR round right when I still needed to draft a second one. When I look at my sheets for players left, only a few good wide receivers are left on the board. I cannot believe the guys that were taken before Javon Walker here. Just reach after reach after reach. He is the best value on the board left, I have to take him.
Once Donovan goes, I know that there are only 3 of us drafters that do not have QB's, and I have noted who they are. I suggest that after the third round you start writing down which drafters have drafted which players, and what they need out of the big 3 positions, QB, RB,and WR. It is pretty easy to see who will be drafting what next when you do this. It can really help make your decision process very easy. Having 15 picks in-between really makes this easy to do.
Out of the handful of quarterbacks that are left, many of them are essentially the same player. I know I can stock up on other skill players and grab two of these QB's very easily much later in the draft.
I also take note that again, Clinton Portis is still on the board, and no running backs were taken at all in this round. I am sitting with 2 RBs and 2 WR, and I know that I am not taking a QB for a while. I will get my last WR and TE in the next couple of rounds.
